Land of the Dead

This blog post is about Corpse Bride, which is fun filled movie, even though it does not sound like it. This is a great movie and a great musical. From the creators that brought you The Nightmare Before Christmas. Yeah, I know I have a lot of movie “From the Creators”, but I really like this movies.

The cast of the movie is Johnny Depp, as Victor Van Dort, who you may know off of Edward Scissorhands or Pirates of the Caribbean. Helena Bonham Carter, as Corpse Bride, who you may know off of Alice in Wonderland or Harry Potter. Danny Elfman, as The Bonejangles, who you may know off of Princess Bride. Emily Watson, as Victoria Everglot, who you may know off of The Water Horse. Christopher Lee, as Pastor Galswells, who you may know off of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Joanna Lumley, as Maudeline Everglot, who you may know off of Ella Enchanted. Albert Finney, as Finis Everglot, who you may know off of Big Fish. Deep Roy, as General Bonesapart, who you may know off of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tracey Ullman, as Nell Van Dort, who you may know off of Into the Woods. Richard E. Grant, as Lord Barkis Bittern, who you may know off of Little Vampire. Paul Whitehouse, as William Van Dort, who you may know off of Alice in Wonderland.

The movie begins with Victor drawing a butterfly, then his parents singing because of his wedding. Then it goes to Victoria parents singing about the wedding, but they are not so happy about it. They start to the rehearsal for the wedding, and Victor can do anything right. Victor is in the woods rehearsing the lines, then he puts the ring on a “branch” or “stick” that is on the ground. Then pops up the Corpse Bride. She scared him, he fainted, and woke up in the land of the dead. He was crazy scared, until she showed him his dead dog, from when he was a kid. He tricked her to going back to the land of the living, to meet his parents, but he wanted to see Victoria. She got mad, then sad and he made her feel better. They had a little of a problem with the marriage thing, since she is dead and he is alive, they were not married, so he said he would die to be married to her. The people from the land of the dead went to the land of the living to the wedding, right after Victoria got married to Lord Barkis. The wedding was happening, until the Corpse Bride stopped him, so he could be with Victoria. You find out that Lord Barkis is the person who killed the Corpse Bride to take her money. Then the people from the land of the dead take Lord Barkis and torture him in the land of the dead.

The movie is a good one. It makes you want love like that. The movie is great for halloweens, or before weddings. The movie is one of Tim Burton’s best, to me. I hope you watch it and enjoy the movie.
