This blog post is about the movie Frankenweenie. Frankenweenie is directed by Tim Burton. From the creators of Coraline. It says at the top of the movie From the director of Alice in Wonderland. I really like this movie, though I did cry when the dog died. Who doesn’t cry when a dog dies in a movie, those people don’t have souls. Let me tell you a little about the movie.
The cast of the movie is Winona Ryder as Elsa Van Helsing, who you may know off of Edward Scissorhands. Catherine O’Hare as the Mrs. Frankenstein, who you may know off of Beetlejuice. Martin Landau as Mr. Rzykruski, who you may know off of City of Ember. Martin Short as Mr. Frankenstein, who you may know off of Santa Clause 3. Charlie Tahan as Victor Frankenstein, who you may know off of Charlie St. Cloud. Atticus Shaffer as Edgar, who you may know off of The Middle. Robert Capron as Bob, who you may know off of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Conchata Ferrell as Bob’s Mom, who you may know off of Two and a Half Men. Tom Kenny as Fire Chief, who you may know off of Spongebob Squarepants. James Hiroyuki Liao as Toshiaki, who you may know off of Prison Break. Michael Keaton as Ben Frankenstein, who you may know off of Batman. Elle Fanning as Anne Chambers, who you may know off of Maleficent. Glenn Shadix as Robert Nassor, who you may know off of Planet of the Apes. Jeffrey Jones as Mr. Chambers, who you may know off of Mom and Dad Save the World.
The movie starts with Victor playing with his dog Sparky. Throwing the ball around in the yard, until the ball bounced into the road and Sparky ran out to get the ball and got run over by a car. Victor is depressed, because he just lost his best friend. Victor is inspired by making dead frogs legs move, so he wants to bring back his dead dog. He is learning and building a lot of different things, to bring back Sparky. After Victor bring Sparky back to life, a whole kids wanted to bring their dead animals back to life as well as Victor’s dog, Sparky. The people of the town go crazy trying to kill Sparky, they set a windmill on fire with Sparky in there. Victor goes and tries to saves him, but gets stuck in there with the Sparky. In the end all the people realize that the Sparky is a good dog, after he saved Victor from the burning windmill.
The movie is in Black-in-White, it is based on Tim Burton’s short film, Frankenweenie. Then, Frankenweenie is based off of Frankenstein and/or Young Frankenstein. Which is based off of the book Frankenstein, by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. I really like this movie, mostly because of how much Victor Frankenstein loves his dog Sparky. Also, how much Sparky loves Victor Frankenstein. Kids would love this movie. It’s funny, sweet, sad, a little scary, silly and exciting.
The movie really revolves around Victor’s relationship with his beloved dog, Sparky, which gives it a sweet emotional core. Unlike most of the other Frankenstein stories, this one gives the scientist a compelling reason to reanimate a dead creature, he wants his best friend back. I hope you enjoy this movie and read my next blog post. It is also a Tim Burton film, but it is a newer movie, with vampires.
